New Hope and
Lambertville, New Jersey
(just across the Delaware River) make up one of our favorite QuaintPlaces.
These small historic towns have the right combination of features to make this
an ideal destination.
New
Hope is known for art. You will find high-end works by local
artists, as well as the big-name artists, in more than 20
galleries. The juried arts and crafts festivals are
well-known for high quality. You will also find
performing arts: theatre, concerts, and street performers.
But
art is only one feature that makes New Hope special. The
scenery here includes lush woods, the Delaware River and historic
canal (complete with mule barge), a steam train (that you can ride),
a stern-wheeler river boat, a horse-drawn carriage, the occasional
hot-air balloon, and lots of colorfully-painted Victorian homes.
The
area is also rich with history. New Hope was founded in 1681
and has about 250 structures listed in the National Register of
Historical Places. George Washington's famous crossing of the
Delaware in 1776 occurred near here.
You
will find many one-of-a-kind specialty shops, cafes, and
award-winning restaurants in New Hope. Most of these are open late
nightly, and are open on Sundays. Parking is usually
free. It doesn't get much quainter nor more romantic than New
Hope. |

Why
shop online?
Prices
and selection
are often better
from these Web
sites than in your
neighborhood stores. Many
of them offer
free packing and
shipping to
your
door or to your
gift recipient. So,
you can save
time, gas, and
money. Merchant
sites must
meet high security
standards to
advertise
on QuaintPlaces.com.

Did
you know?
When
you place an
