Eastern Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, USA

Eastern Lancaster County has a large rural Amish (Pennsylvania Dutch) population and is famous for its handcrafted items, especially quilts. Tourists come great distances to shop in the rural villages and ride the steam train in the rolling farmland. Some families vacation in Lancaster County. The area offers a full range of tourist attractions.* The QuaintVillages here only 3-4 miles apart. The Amish do not use automobiles. So, some roads have special lanes for their horse-drawn buggies. We last visited in 2002.

*(Ordinary tourist attractions include hotels, campgrounds, amusement parks, miniature golf courses, factory outlets, live theatre performances, and the like. Most of these are located on U.S.30 just east of Lancaster city.)
