This
historic inland port town, pronounced "Noobrn," was founded by the Swiss in 1710.
The downtown historic district is large and has many preserved homes
and buildings. It is half surrounded by the Neuse and Trent
rivers. There is a marina at the Sheraton Hotel downtown.
A
Pepsi memorabilia store and soda fountain stands on the
spot where the pharmacy stood, in which Pepsi-cola was invented. Tryon Palace (1770)
and garden tours are popular and expensive.
MUMfest is
the largest festival here. It features thousands of chrysanthemums and much to do for the whole family.
This
portion of the North Carolina coast has plenty of additional places
to see and enjoy, include Beaufort, 35 miles
southeast of New Bern.

are often better
from these Web
sites than in your
neighborhood stores. Many
of them offer
free packing and
shipping to
your
door or to your
gift recipient. So,
you can save
time, gas, and
money. Merchant
sites must
meet high security
standards to
advertise
on QuaintPlaces.com.

Did
you know?
When
you place an
order from these

contribute a small
commission to QuaintPlaces.com. These
commissions
do not increase
the cost of your

purchases
made within a few
days
after
your

commissions for us.
(Please do not delete your cookies.)
These
commissions, plus sales of our
own photos and cards, are
necessary
to help defray the
cost of maintaining QuaintPlaces.com,
which currently
operates at a loss.
Your
purchases will
help us provide
more
information
and photos about
