Albuquerque
has colleges and universities, Sandia National Laboratories,
Kirkland Air Force Base, and much more. It doesn't look quaint
until you find Old Town, the historic district downtown, then you
suddenly experience the authentic Spanish southwest. You
can buy traditional handmade turquoise and silver jewelry, wool
rugs, and other articles directly from native Americans under the
hand-hewn vigas (log beams) of adobe buildings in Old Town Plaza.
You can dine here on the best southwestern cuisine. The fabled
Route 66 is nearby. For a romantic evening, ride the 2.7-mile
tram to the top of Sandia Peak that overlooks the city and watch the
sun set. |

Why
shop online?
Prices
and selection
are often better
from these Web
sites than in your
neighborhood stores. Many
of them offer
free packing and
shipping to
your
door or to your
gift recipient. So,
you can save
time, gas, and
money. Merchant
sites must
meet high security
standards to
advertise
on QuaintPlaces.com.
|
Did
you know?
When
you place an
order from these
merchants, they
contribute a small
commission to QuaintPlaces.com. These
commissions
do not increase
the cost of your
purchases. Only
purchases
made within a few
days
after
your
initial "click" to
their sites generate
commissions for us.
(Please do not delete your cookies.)
These
commissions, plus sales of our
own photos and cards, are
necessary
to help defray the
cost of maintaining QuaintPlaces.com,
which currently
operates at a loss.
Your
purchases will
help us provide
more
information
and photos about
quaint places.
