Bay Saint Louis claims to be the highest elevation on the Gulf coast (38 feet).  It has a rich history and Indian lore.  French was spoken here until the 1920s.  Before hurricane

Katrina flooded much of the historic district, it was a quiet, shady retreat surrounded by modern beach resorts.

This little old railroad town was home to many juried artists.  This house on Bookter Street was the last home and gallery of the famous folk artist Alice Moseley (1909-2004).  It became a

museum after her death. www.AliceMoseley.com*  The shop pictured below on North Beach Blvd. looked small on the outside but displayed original works by over

200 artists and crafters.  It was one of several quaint shops in this art town.  There were also some fine seafood restaurants in Bay Saint Louis.  We hope some of the charm will eventually return to this devastated gem.
