Bay
Saint Louis claims to be the highest elevation on the Gulf coast (38
feet). It
has a rich history and Indian lore. French was spoken here until the
1920s. Before hurricane |
|
Katrina
flooded much of the historic district, it was a quiet, shady retreat
surrounded by modern beach resorts.
|
|
|
This
little old railroad town was home to many juried artists.
This house on Bookter Street was the last home and gallery of the
famous folk artist Alice Moseley (1909-2004). It became a |
museum
after her death. www.AliceMoseley.com*
The shop pictured below on North Beach
Blvd. looked small on the outside but displayed
original works by over |
|
|
200 artists and crafters. It
was one
of several quaint shops in this art town. There were also some fine seafood restaurants in Bay Saint Louis.
We hope some of the charm will eventually return to this devastated
gem.

Why
shop online?
Prices
and selection
are often better
from these Web
sites than in your
neighborhood stores. Many
of them offer
free packing and
shipping to
your
door or to your
gift recipient. So,
you can save
time, gas, and
money. Merchant
sites must
meet high security
standards to
advertise
on QuaintPlaces.com.

Did
you know?
When
you place an
order from these
merchants, they
contribute a small
commission to QuaintPlaces.com. These
commissions
do not increase
the cost of your
purchases. Only
purchases
made within a few
days
after
your
initial "click" to
their sites generate
commissions for us.
(Please do not delete your cookies.)
These
commissions, plus sales of our
own photos and cards, are
necessary
to help defray the
cost of maintaining QuaintPlaces.com,
which currently
operates at a loss.
Your
purchases will
help us provide
more
information
and photos about
