Smithsburg,
incorporated 1846, sits in a fertile valley beside the Catoctin Mountain
ridge. People come here to shop for country crafts and to have a
very reasonably priced lunch. Parking is free, and there are no crowds, except during the
festivals. The Steam and Craft show culminates with a parade of
tractors and mowers that goes through town. Everyone in the area is
invited to participate. Several 100-year-old antique steam tractors
arrive each year. We recommend including Smithsburg in any trip through this
scenic region of Maryland. |

Why
shop online?
Prices
and selection
are often better
from these Web
sites than in your
neighborhood stores. Many
of them offer
free packing and
shipping to
your
door or to your
gift recipient. So,
you can save
time, gas, and
money. Merchant
sites must
meet high security
standards to
advertise
on QuaintPlaces.com.

Did
you know?
When
you place an
order from these

commissions
do not increase
the cost of your
purchases. Only
purchases
made within a few
days
after
your
initial "click" to
their sites generate
commissions for us.
(Please do not delete your cookies.)
These
commissions, plus sales of our
own photos and cards, are
necessary
to help defray the
cost of maintaining QuaintPlaces.com,
which currently
operates at a loss.
Your
