Gaithersburg
is a busy suburb of Washington D.C. in the center of Montgomery County,
Maryland. There are two areas within the Gaithersburg city
limits that we recommend for art, history, and ambience. The historic district,
known as Olde Towne, is small, but has some nice features. The
Kentlands area was developed around an old mansion. Gaithersburg is
also near several
additional QuaintPlaces in the county.
We
also recommend Lancaster Market in nearby Germantown. Amish proprietors
and their fresh goods are bused here from their farms and workshops in
Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, each Thursday through Saturday.
Naturally, the best day to go is Thursday when everything is freshest.

Why
shop online?
Prices
and selection
are often better
from these Web
sites than in your
neighborhood stores. Many
of them offer
free packing and
shipping to
your
door or to your
gift recipient. So,
you can save
time, gas, and
money. Merchant
sites must
meet high security
standards to
advertise
on QuaintPlaces.com.

Did
you know?
When
you place an
order from these
merchants, they
contribute a small
commission to QuaintPlaces.com. These
commissions
do not increase
the cost of your
purchases. Only
purchases
made within a few
days
after
your
initial "click" to
their sites generate
commissions for us.
(Please do not delete your cookies.)
These
commissions, plus sales of our
own photos and cards, are
necessary
to help defray the
cost of maintaining QuaintPlaces.com,
which currently
operates at a loss.
Your
purchases will
help us provide
more
information
and photos about
quaint places.
