Brandywine Valley

Delaware and Pennsylvania

(a ScenicDrive)

The suburbs of Philadelphia and Wilmington have merged, but one pastoral area along the Brandywine River has been protected from over-development.  The area is sometimes called "Chateau Country" due to the large homes here. Route 100 from West Chester, Pennsylvania, to Westover Hills, Delaware, follows the river and is very scenic.  Route 52 from Longwood Gardens, Pennsylvania, to Wilmington is also scenic.  Many of the museums and historic features are along these two routes, but you will need to take side roads to a few more.

Many hotels and the usual suburban restaurants and shopping malls are not far away on US-1 and US-202.  There is plenty more to see and do in the greater Philadelphia and Wilmington area.

Why shop online?

Prices and selection are often better from these Web sites than in your
neighborhood stores.  Many of them offer free packing and shipping to
your door or to your gift recipient.  So, you can save time, gas, and
money.  Merchant sites must meet high security standards to advertise
on QuaintPlaces.com.

Did you know?

When you place an order from these merchants, they contribute a small
commission to QuaintPlaces.com.  These commissions do not increase
the cost of your purchases.  Only purchases made within a few days
after your initial "click" to their sites generate commissions for us.
(Please do not delete your cookies.)

These commissions, plus sales of our own photos and cards, are
necessary to help defray the cost of maintaining QuaintPlaces.com,
which currently operates at a loss.

Your purchases will help us provide more information and photos about
quaint places.
