Victoria,
British Columbia
|
Victoria
calls itself the "Garden City." In addition to the famous Butchart
Gardens, you will find thousands of
hanging flower planters all over the city that are watered daily all summer.
Victoria is one of the cleanest
and most attractive cities we have seen. It is also the
most British city in B.C.
The
inner harbor area is both the Provincial seat of government and the primary
tourist area. It lights
|
|
up at night.
The Empress Hotel is the
historic centerpiece. Victoria hosts 3.5 million visitors per
year. Cruise ships bring many of them. Parking
is at a premium in the inner harbor area and nearby shopping district. |

Over
half of the local population here is retired. Most of the remainder
work in government or tourism. There are tours that drive past many fine
homes and golf courses around the city. Victoria's Canada Day fireworks on July 1
can be seen from Port Angeles, Washington, in the USA, and Victorians
enjoy watching the July 4 fireworks in Port Angeles.
Victoria
is on Vancouver Island, so plan extra time for ferry boats, if you are
driving

Why
shop online?
Prices
and selection
are often better
from these Web
sites than in your
neighborhood stores. Many
of them offer
free packing and
shipping to
your
door or to your
gift recipient. So,
you can save
time, gas, and
money. Merchant
sites must
meet high security
standards to
advertise
on QuaintPlaces.com.
|
Did
you know?
When
you place an
order from these
merchants, they
contribute a small
commission to QuaintPlaces.com. These
commissions
do not increase
the cost of your
purchases. Only
purchases
made within a few
days
after
your
initial "click" to
their sites generate
commissions for us.
(Please do not delete your cookies.)
These
commissions, plus sales of our
own photos and cards, are
necessary
to help defray the
cost of maintaining QuaintPlaces.com,
which currently
operates at a loss.
Your
purchases will
help us provide
more
information
and photos about
quaint places.
