Bisbee,
Arizona
|
Bisbee was
founded in 1880 and became a booming mining town of 20,000 by 1900. It was
once the largest town between San Francisco and St. Louis. The last
mine closed in 1975 and is now a museum. Today, the population is
less than 6,000 but is probably growing again. |
|
|
Bisbee is home to
many artists, whose studios you can visit. Some of the old
Victorian-style buildings are being restored. Tourism is now
the primary industry here. |

|
Bisbee's charm
comes more from its creative spirit than from its appearance. It is
sometimes called "hippie-friendly" and "quirky," and
some parts of town resemble a ghost town. It is surrounded by desert
mountains (the Mule Mountains). But, don't let this stop you.
There is much to see and do in and around Bisbee. |

money. Merchant
sites must
meet high security
standards to
advertise
