Mentone,
Alabama
(a
QuaintVillage)
|
Mentone means
"musical mountain spring." This small shady mountain-top
retreat was a booming health resort from the 1890's through the
1920's. Today it boasts that there are still no shopping malls, neon
signs, nor traffic jams. Local artists create fine unique crafts and
sell them in the galleries and in the shops around the town square.
Visitors enjoy
the wilderness setting with its streams, waterfalls, clean air, and
mountain views. Little River Canyon and Desoto Falls (110 feet), in
the state park, are a must-see.

Why
shop online?
Prices
and selection
are often better
from these Web
sites than in your
neighborhood stores. Many
of them offer
free packing and
shipping to
your
door or to your
gift recipient. So,
you can save
time, gas, and
money. Merchant
sites must
meet high security
standards to
advertise
on QuaintPlaces.com.

Did
you know?
When
you place an
order from these
merchants, they
contribute a small
commission to QuaintPlaces.com. These
commissions
do not increase
the cost of your
purchases. Only
purchases
made within a few
days
after
your
initial "click" to
their sites generate
commissions for us.
(Please do not delete your cookies.)
These
commissions, plus sales of our
own photos and cards, are
necessary
to help defray the
cost of maintaining QuaintPlaces.com,
which currently
operates at a loss.
Your
purchases will
help us provide
more
information
and photos about
quaint places.
