This is not one of those automated mega travel sites.  Our information is collected by hand from like-minded travelers.  You won't have much luck finding sports arenas, casinos, amusement parks, shopping malls, or other mass-appeal destinations here.  Our mission is to share practical information and personal experiences about special places in North America that feature:

Antique shops
Art galleries
Bed and breakfast

inns

Boat tours
Boutiques
Castles
Coffee shops
Covered bridges
Festivals
Gourmet confections
Ghost walks
Historic canals
Historic mansions
Historical reenactments
Horse-drawn
carriage

tours

Ice cream parlors

Local charm and color
Lighthouses
Museums
Original crafts and

collectibles

Painted Ladies

(Victorian homes)

Public sculpture
Specialty bakeries
Steam train rides
Street performers
Totem poles
Tourist maps
Trolley buses
Unique restaurants
Visitor centers
Waterfalls
Windmills

and other interesting things to see and do.  You can find original art and crafts in some malls, but QuaintPlaces have real history, one-of-a-kind shops, working artists, interesting people, character, and charm.  Use the green menu to the left to search.

Adventurers (like you?) are telling us about the quaint neighborhoods they have found tucked away in cities, and charming hamlets in the countryside.  We keep adding them to the site, along with the tips and photos they send us.  We also visit as many of them as we can ourselves.

Travel by car can be a rewarding experience if you do a little research before you leave.  Look for our ScenicDrives and PitStops.  Try taking a different route each trip.  And when you return home, tell us about about the QuaintPlaces you discovered.

If you want to cruise to some QuaintPlaces or stay in hotels, resorts, spas, campgrounds, or rental cottages, check our travel resources on each destination page for discounts.  You can reserve seats for concerts and other events here, and book travel packages that include QuaintPlaces.  We hope you will tell us about resources that you think would be helpful.

Cruises, vacation packages, and other travel services

You can click on almost any picture or underlined words in QuaintPlaces.com to see and learn more.  We offer print-friendly versions of our travel information pages.  We are currently improving our state and province map pages.  You can purchase images or prints of the numbered photos you see throughout QuaintPlaces.com.

This site is funded by commissions from sales that result from your "clicks" on advertisements that we display, and from sales of our own photos and our growing line of greeting cards, QuaintCards (TM).  We do not yet generate enough revenue to meet all of our operating expenses.  This has slowed us down.  We hope you will consider doing some of your on-line shopping here so we can speed up the adding and updating of information and photos about QuaintPlaces.
